Turquoise - 60ml Bottle | Iridescent Acrylic Paint
Turquoise - 60ml Bottle | Iridescent Acrylic Paint
These beautiful micaceous-based colours are for artists who wish to add a touch of glamour or glitter to a piece, such as the translucent glow of an angel's wings, a butterfly, a fish, or the brilliant iridescent shimmer on a mallard drake's neck. Simply mix the iridescent colours directly into your paints or apply after decorating to highlight specific areas. The choice is yours.
Translucent colours for highlighting, overall iridescent effects, and faux finishes.
- Iridescent Colours reflect off the background. Over dark backgrounds, the colours are quite vivid. Over a light background, the colour appears soft and subtle.
Directions:
- Iridescent Colours appear milky white until dried. Label the palette to avoid confusion.
- Apply full strength or thinned with medium, depending on the desired effect.
- Use techniques like sponging, stroking, dry brushing, splattering, or overglazing. Colour is more intense if undiluted. Apply undiluted to accent details using a dry brush technique.
- Thin with a small amount of Retarder Medium or apply to a surface moistened with Retarder for a soft effect. Use thinned colour for a glaze over a painted surface. Brush a medium coat of thinned colour over the prepared surface and create effects by removing the overglaze with a sponge, plastic wrap, or cloth for a ‘ragging off’ technique.
- Use Magic Mix to thin colours for stroke work, floated colour, or small amounts of iridescent colour. Add to the final highlight colour for a unique effect. Layering deepens the colour.
- For spattering, thin as needed with Flow Medium or water. The more Flow Medium used, the more transparent the colour. Spatter by pulling the thumb over the end of a firm bristle brush filled with thinned colour. May be applied over a barrier coat of Clear Glaze Medium so that excess spattering can be easily removed.

The Decorative Painting System
With the range of paints, also comes a range of mediums to allow unlimited techniques. Acrylic mediums are invaluable if you wish to change the paint consistency or alter drying times. Chroma has discovered ways of allowing the same set of colours to be applied on a variety of surfaces such as wood, metal, glass and textiles. The same colours (with the use of the mediums) can be stencilled, stamped, crackled or used in a host of elaborate faux finishes. By experimenting with the mediums, there are endless possibilities that can be achieved. Technique information sheets, designed to inspire your imagination, can be found on this website. Chroma continues its research and development of new products.
